This is the privacy policy for HAM QuickLog for macOS, the Mac version of our logbook app for amateur radio operators, made by Mircules. It is intentionally separate from the iOS privacy policy, because the macOS app does not use analytics, location/GPS, online maps for tracking, or automatic uploads to logging services — those statements apply only to the iOS app.
HAM QuickLog for macOS is a logbook app for amateur radio operators, made by Mircules. We built it to respect your privacy. We do not collect, track, sell, or share your personal data. This policy explains exactly what the macOS app does with your information.
Nothing. The HAM QuickLog macOS app contains no analytics, no advertising, and no tracking of any kind. We do not operate a server that receives your logs or usage data, and we have no way to see what you log or how you use the app.
When you choose to look up a callsign, the app contacts the online callbook service you have configured:
https://xmldata.qrz.comhttps://www.hamqth.comFor these lookups, the app sends the callsign you are looking up together with your own account credentials for that service, over an encrypted HTTPS connection, directly from your Mac to that service. This only happens when you trigger a lookup (or enable auto-lookup in Settings). Your callbook passwords are stored securely in the macOS Keychain and are sent only to the corresponding service to authenticate your request. Mircules never receives these credentials. Your use of QRZ.com and HamQTH.com is subject to their own privacy policies and terms.
If you connect a radio, the app communicates with it locally — either directly
over a serial/USB (CAT) connection or over a local network connection to a Hamlib rigctld
daemon running on your machine. No rig-control data leaves your device.
The app can open links in your default web browser, including:
When you follow one of these links, the destination website may collect information according to its own privacy policy. The app itself does not send your personal data to these sites beyond the callsign contained in the link you chose to open.
You can import and export your log as ADIF, CSV, or PDF files. These files are read from and written to locations you choose on your own Mac. They are not transmitted anywhere by the app.
The app is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, including children.
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected on this page with a new "Last updated" date.
